   I was curious as to how this filter, only 1″ deep, was supposed to last 3 months instead of the usual one. I kept two in place on our two units for a couple of months and then changed them. It appears that the answer is that they are thicker and thus more absorbent. From looking at the used filter, I am sure that it could have gone another month here in desert environment with lots of dust.

   I thought i was going to have to get one of those adjustable filters as none of the home improvements stores in my area carried this size. I wish I had checked Amazon first! Not only are these higher Merv counts than local, they are the right size and cheaper! They work great and I’ll be coming back for more.
